Citizenship Awards

SpankyCitizenship Awards are given to students in kindergarten (five awards)"Spanky Award", fifth grade (five awards) "Bert Karrer Citizenship Award", and eighth grade (four awards) "Marion Education Foundation Citizenship Award".  Marion Education Foundation asks principals and teachers to nominate one student from each class who exhibits the following criteria:

  • 100% effort in the classroom
  • The highest level of character
  • Pride in their school
  • Team play and sportsmanship in all extra-curricular activities
  • Respect for all teachers, employees and students of Marion ISD

Traditions Award is a special way to honor Marion ISD employees, family members and friends.  The award is given to someone who has served as a role model to students, parents, family and friends.  They must truly believe in the district's values of excellence and honors the traditions that make this district and community strong recognizes the need for daily acts of kindness.

Each Year the Marion Education Foundation Awards students in grades K-2 Citizenship Awards. The Kindergarten, First and Second Graders received the "Spanky" Award.  This award was named after a long time resident of Krueger Elementary School.  "Spanky", the rabbit. The teachers pick the student who best exemplifies the following traits
• 100% effort in the classroom,
• The highest level of character
•  Pride in their school
• Team play and sportsmanship in all extra-curricular activities
•  Respect for all teachers, employees and students of Marion ISD

Citizenship Awards. The Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders receive the Bert
Karrer Award.  This award was named after a long time principal of Krueger
Elementary School and High School Coach. The teachers pick the student who
best exemplifies the following traits:        *100% effort in the classroom,
    * The highest level of character
    * Pride in their school
*Team play and sportsmanship in all extra-curricular activities
* Respect for all teachers, employees and students of Marion ISD

Education Foundation Citizenship-Bert Karrer Award.

Each Year the Marion Education Foundation Awards students in grades 6-8 Citizenship Awards. The Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Graders received the Charles Ingersoll Award.  This award was named after an honored and long time School Studies Teacher, Charles Ingersoll.. The teachers pick thestudent who best exemplifies the following traits:

  • Team play and sportsmanship in all extra-curricular activities
  • Respect for all teachers, employees and students of Marion ISD
