Marion Education Foundation
This foundation was created in 2002 to support educational programs and recognize both the students and the educators of Marion ISD.

 

The Foundation:

  • Shares a vision of enhancing education
  • Works to increase private support for educational activities not funded by tax dollars
  • Fosters creative approaches to education through private grants and involvement
  • Awards foundation funds through a volunteer Board of Directors made up of business, community and educational leaders

Marion Education Foundation-2002-2011

Benchmarks:

  1. We are one of the few small school districts foundations in the area.
  2. We will complete a decade of service to the school district and community.
  3. We were founded with about $2,000 in the bank and currently our account has an endowment of $40,000 and a checking account of about $30,000.
  4. We have funded over 90 senior scholarships totaling over $45,000.
  5. We have funded over 80 grants totaling over $25,000.
  6. We have sponsored the “Spanky Citizenship Award” for over a decade.
  7. We have raised over $60,000 in funds by sponsoring our annual “Tamale and Chili Supper.

2009-2010 Foundation Goals & Objectives:diploma

  1. Fund six $500.00 senior scholarships
  2. Fund eight special senior scholarships
  3. Fund six competitive teacher grants at $200.00
  4. Fund three campus grants at $300.00
  5. Fund the elementary and middle school citizenship awards ("Spanky")
  6. Initiate a 2009-2010 Annual Campaign for donations
  7. Establish an employee membership program
  8. Fund an end of the year teacher/employee appreciation banquet/dinner
