
Marion Education Foundation
This foundation was created in 2002 to support educational programs and recognize both the students and the educators of Marion ISD.
The Foundation:
- Shares a vision of enhancing education
- Works to increase private support for educational activities not funded by tax dollars
- Fosters creative approaches to education through private grants and involvement
- Awards foundation funds through a volunteer Board of Directors made up of business, community and educational leaders
Marion Education Foundation-2002-2011
Benchmarks:
- We are one of the few small school districts foundations in the area.
- We will complete a decade of service to the school district and community.
- We were founded with about $2,000 in the bank and currently our account has an endowment of $40,000 and a checking account of about $30,000.
- We have funded over 90 senior scholarships totaling over $45,000.
- We have funded over 80 grants totaling over $25,000.
- We have sponsored the “Spanky Citizenship Award” for over a decade.
- We have raised over $60,000 in funds by sponsoring our annual “Tamale and Chili Supper.
2009-2010 Foundation Goals & Objectives:
- Fund six $500.00 senior scholarships
- Fund eight special senior scholarships
- Fund six competitive teacher grants at $200.00
- Fund three campus grants at $300.00
- Fund the elementary and middle school citizenship awards ("Spanky")
- Initiate a 2009-2010 Annual Campaign for donations
- Establish an employee membership program
- Fund an end of the year teacher/employee appreciation banquet/dinner
- Improve our foundation website and add an alumni section for reunion information
